Calcite Cabin

Dog-friendly Calcite Cabin sleeps five and has an all-important hot tub, making it the perfect place to stay for any family looking for an adventure holiday in the south west. The on-site watersports centre has skilled staff trained in helping all ages and abilities get out on Trevassack Lake for the self-catering staycation of a lifetime.

Walkthrough

Unload the luggage and send someone ahead to switch on the kettle, you’ve arrived at Calcite Cabin and are ready to relax! Your parking space is just below the securely fenced garden area, so not far to carry luggage and easy to let the dog off the lead as soon as the gate clicks shut behind you. First through the double doors may flop on the big double bed to your left, perfectly positioned by its own set of floor to ceiling windows for a lie in while watching the birds fly by. The open plan living room is spacious and modern, decorated in scandi style. A generous wet-room is off to one corner, the fully equipped kitchen and dining table, and a separate bedroom housing a double bed with single bed over is at the end, again with patio doors out to the deck.

The sitting-area has comfortable sofas in front of massive sliding doors so you can let the outside in. On sunny days, throw the doors wide and enjoy the inside/outside lifestyle with al fresco brunches and evening aperitifs enjoyed on the large deck, plus any time of day is a good time to get in the hot tub, but we recommend laying back under the moonlight and trying to spot the stars. If you get a bit chilly, head inside where there is an eco air conditioner for both heating and cooling the main space and some underfloor heating that’s sure to be appreciated by your pooch.

Setting

With little glimpses of the lake, Calcite Cabin is tucked away on the far right of the site with protected flora and fauna stretching out behind it for miles. For everyone’s pleasure, only one car is allowed on site per property, keeping things quieter and safer for the children, but still convenient for luggage and those with limited mobility.

A little wander down the slope (or via the open-air lift for tired little legs or the less mobile) and you’ll be among the action that everyone comes here for – Trevassack Lake is home to a learning centre with café and all the watersports you could hope for. Spend the day splashing around with paddlesports with wild swimming sessions taking place at set times throughout the summer and winter, and then meander happily up the hill to your holiday home (please note, lake access is subject to staff availability).

History

Have you heard of calcite, the mineral this cabin is named after? It used to be quarried here at Trevassack Lake and is surprisingly common throughout the world. It can be found in many different shapes and colours and is an essential component of limestone, but it is also known to help calm the mind and boost memory whilst amplifying learning abilities, so it is the perfect stone for our guests here on holiday!
